Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay reports near record year for red kettle donations

Posted

The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay says it had a near record year for red kettle donations.

The organization announced Thursday that they collected over $1.1 million during the holiday season which surpasses their $1 million fundraising goal.

"It's very nice to start a new year not having to worry about meeting the needs of the community," said Major Bob Mueller.

Leaders say, through the compassion of the community, more than 2,500 families received Christmas assistance this year. They credit individual donors, the gift of 40 gold coins, and the $76,000 raised through the Packers' autograph sessions for helping them achieve one of their most successful fundraising seasons ever.
