A Lawrence University student has been suspended after being arrested and charged with child pornography possession.

22-year-old Thomas Skoog was arrested last Wednesday.

According to online court records, he’s charged with five counts of possession of child pornography.

Nancy Truesdell, Lawrence University’s Vice President for student affairs released a statement Sunday.

It says in part, "The Appleton Police Department assured Lawrence administration that no one in the Lawrence community was in any danger related to the alleged crime. As is our practice, when a student is charged with a felony, that student is immediately suspended from Lawrence pending the outcome of the criminal court case. While suspended, the student is not allowed on campus. If convicted of a felony, the student would be immediately expelled."

Skoog is expected in Outagamie County court Thursday for a preliminary hearing.
