Wisconsin Congressman Reid Ribble announced today the U.S. Navy will name a Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) the USS Marinette. "Marinette's shipbuilding industry is the pride of Wisconsin and the construction of Littoral Combat Ships touches not only the men and women who work in the shipyard, but the whole community around Marinette", Ribble said in a statement.
Ribble, a Republican who's not seeking re-election, started the drive to name a LCS after Marinette since September, 2011. On Thursday, September 22, 2016, Navy Secretary Ray Mabus will officially name LCS 25 the USS Marinette.
