MANILA, Utah (AP) — Authorities have identified the 14-year-old girl who was killed and a woman who was hospitalized in critical condition after they were struck by lightning at the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area straddling the Utah-Wyoming border.
Brooklyn Reynolds, 14, and her stepmother, Jayleen Reynolds, 49, both of Utah County, were riding on a personal watercraft on Flaming Gorge Reservoir around noon Friday when their watercraft was hit by lightning. Jayleen Reynolds was driving the personal watercraft.
The teen's father, who has not been identified, was riding on a personal watercraft nearby but was not injured.
