After many, many weeks of the nation watching her labor through a live-stream, April the Giraffe gave birth today, April 15.

The gender of the calf has not been made known yet. Animal Adventure Park plans to give an update on that soon.

By 7:30 a.m. EDT, one of the calf's legs was sticking out. The calf was fully delivered by 9:53 a.m., with 1.2 million people watching the live-stream on YouTube around that time.

Giraffes are in labor for about 15 months, and April was in labor for about 16. Giraffes give birth while standing, and their calves come out hooves-first.

April's due date was back in February. Her labor has been extensive, and the nation has been keeping up with her through Animal Adventure Park's live feed, as the zoo was closed during the winter season.

The gender of the calf has not been known through April's pregnancy.
