When Jordan Olson of Green bay was diagnosed with melanoma, commonly known as skin cancer, his friends say they knew they had to help him out.

Since Olson is an avid fisherman, they decided to have a musky derby.

60 percent of entry fees of the tournament go directly to Olson, along with the proceeds from a silent auction.

Organizers say more than 45 boats are participating, far exceeding their expectations.

"The amount of support we've had for this is, I mean, overwhelming. I mean, we started this about two months ago now, and it was just out on the web. Hey, we gotta do something, let's do something," said Tim Lautenslager, organizer.

Lautenslager says he expects the event to raise more than $20,000.

He says he hopes to make the event an annual tradition.
