As of Tuesday, 17,000 people are in relief centers after the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, and that number continues to grow.
In response, the American Red Cross continued to send volunteers from across the country to Texas.
Wisconsin has already sent 57 responders, with dozens more on standby.
Dean Ekberg from De Pere left Tuesday from Austin Straubel International Airport. He's been deployed by the Red Cross to disasters like Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy, but he told NBC26 he's never seen anything like Harvey's wrath.
Ekberg flew into Dallas and will stay in Beaumont Tuesday, which is just a few hours from Houston.
He plans to stay in South Texas for two weeks, but knows the Red Cross will be there for much longer.
"The length this one is going to take is going to be a catastrophic," Ekberg said. "It's day four and they're still doing rescue. It's unbelievable. This is going to go on for a long time."
Ekberg said many people are calling to volunteer, and said they can still use the help.
