New London, WIS--
Right now the Wolf River is sitting at just under 6.5 feet but with the additional rain in the forecast waters will rise creating less than ideal conditions for fishermen.
More rain and rising water levels things avid angler Stephanie Niederberger isn't looking forward to. "When it rains and the river rises there usually gets to be a lot of debris, so it's harder for the fish to see so you don't really catch as many" says Stephanie Niederberger, Fisherman.
Niederberger says this year is tougher for fishing because of a wetter start to spring. "About 1-2 inches above normal here in green bay and similar in other parts of the area" says Sean Luchs, Meteorologist.
Area rivers like the Wolf River are at risk over the next day or two of reaching flood stage due to the chance of rain tonight.“Well just with the high flows that we've had recently and rain coming it looks to have the potential to see rising waters in area rivers and increased flows" says Niederberger.
Since March 1st we've seen over 5 inches of rain. Our normal rainfall is just under 4 inches. "I think it has a lot to do with the weather and the way it so full of debris for a while now it's down but it's going to be coming back up real quickly again" says Niederberger.
With the forecast showing more rain....“It probably won't be as good that's why I’m out today" says Niederberger.
Niederberger is taking advantage of the clear water before the river becomes too murky to fish. Now with the storms moving through areas could pick up to one inch of rain.
