Moore sentenced for murder of Thomas Wick

GREEN BAY, Wis.- A Brown County judge handing down a tough sentence to 31-year-old Matthew Moore for the brutal 2012 murder of Thomas Wick and the 2013 overdose death of Spencer Patz.

Moore will spend the next 53 years behind bars and then another 28 on extended supervision for the crimes he committed.

The judge handed down her sentence after hearing heart felt statements from both families.

"Every day that he's not around you should be looking at prison walls.  It would be irresponsible to put any more families at risk by allowing you to ever be out on the street," said Thomas Wick's nephew, Bo Lotto.

Wick was shot 4 time and left for dead in his basement, but the judge said the part that goes straight to the character of Moore is the fact that he tried to disguise the scene like it was someone else who had done it.  Moore even appeared at the funerals of both men and offered condolences to the families.

"You continued to victimize these families, appearing at the funerals, making phone calls, attempting to somehow befriend the family members," said Brown County judge Tammy Jo Hock.

In the end Moore did make a statement, just before his sentence was handed down, apologizing to the families,

"No family, no family should have to experience what you have.  I would give anything to go back and change my actions to have Tom and Spencer here today," said Moore.

Moore will be 84-years-old when he gets out of prison.
