Appleton, WI -- The Mile of Music kicks off in downtown Appleton on Thursday. Organizers say this year's Mile Four will be their biggest event yet.
The event features more than 230 artists with 50-thousand fans expected to attend. It's an opportunity to check out craft shops, restaurants, cafes and bars in downtown Appleton all while listening to original music.
Each year the "Singing in the Shower" exhibit sponsored by Tundraland helps provide scholarships to aspiring artists in the Fox Valley.
"It's really hard for singer songwriters to make a living these days so the troubadour things is in someways an endangered species. We are trying to make sure there is somebody paying attention to those kids," said Dave Willems, the Mile of Music Director.
The scholarships include lessons at Heid Music and a Guitar.
Mile of Music runs August 4-7.
