Mild temps bring out big numbers for parade

Posted

APPLETON, WI -- Downtown Appleton was alive with the holiday spirit tonight.

The city's 45th annual Christmas parade brings in tens of thousands of people from as far away as the U.P.

Last year, organizers say 80,000 were estimated to have come to see the parade.

Mild temps helped bring even more families out along college avenue this year.

"Yeah, it's been a beautiful night, and the parade has been wonderful," says Rachel Clohessy, of Neenah, "we got here around six.. and looked at everything, got some hot chocolate. Very nice--we came last year and it was freezing."

This year's parade featured 75 floats, 21 marching bands, and a tree lighting ceremony in City Park.
