GREEN BAY, WI -- Packer fans: expect a change in the way you get past security at the next game.
Metal detectors are now replacing handheld wands at every entry point for every major event held at Lambeau Field.
Security leaders the metal detectors will be a faster, more convenient, and more consistent way to screen fans and keep them safe.
It's also part of a league initiative over the last few years that's impacting all NFL stadiums.
During family night just weeks ago, security was able to push 50,000 fans through the detectors in the first hour.
As far as what they'll pick up, officials say they're similar to those at the airport, only with a "sports setting."
"So, they're not set as sensitive as the airport ones," says Lambeau security driector Doug Collins, "so, you don't have to take your belts off, you don't have to take your shoes off. Small rings of keys won't go off. It's a large cell phone, a large ring of keys, any large knives-any of those things will make it go off."
Express lane fans, with only keys, or a cell phone with them, won't have to check anything.
"The detectors are very specific," adds Collins. "They have LED lights on them that tell the officer on the back side of the detector where the metal is going off. So, the metal should be going off right where your hands are. So, they'll know exactly what's coming through the gate visually."
Even with these metal detectors, the clear bag policy, and all other restrictions on carry-ins, are still in full effect.
