Sad news for boaters on the Fox River and Lake Winnebago as the City of Menasha announces it will not open the Menasha locks this year.
The announcement comes after leaders at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources asked that locks be closed to fight against an invasive species. The Round Gobie, an invasive species, has leaders worried that it could infest the Lake Winnebago system were the locks to open.
The locks will be closed the entire 2016 boating season.
