Two men from Wausau have been charged for allegedly bringing guns to Appleton East High School to retaliate against a student.

The judge set a cash bond of $20,000 for Blong Vang, 21, and $15,000 for Tou Thao, 17 Monday in Outagamie County Court.

According to police, a school resource officer had contact with the two last Thursday at the end of the school day at Appleton East because they appeared not to be students.

Inconsistencies in their stories led school staff to check the parking lots of the school, where police say they discovered a vehicle not registered to be at the school.

Based on statements provided at the scene, officers were called in to respond to the incident. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of two handguns, one loaded, along with magazines filled with ammunition.

A 16-year-old from Wausau is also being held in secure detention for his alleged involvement.

Police say there were no weapons brought inside Appleton East.

The two cannot have contact with student or go to Appleton East as part of their bond conditions.

Thao will be back in court April 27.
