A member of the Fox Cities Victim Crisis Response Team has traveled to Las Vegas to help victims in the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
The team member joins four others from Wisconsin, all from the Department of Justice's Office of Crime Victim Services, to help those affected by this tragedy.
The Victim Crisis Response Team is a volunteer organization designed to assist local police departments in providing advocacy, support and assistance to victims of crime or crisis.
The program was started in 1997 and helps all law enforcement agencies in the Fox Valley.
"The members really serve a much needed mission in helping law enforcement at the crisis scenes," said the Fox Crossing Police Department in a press release. "All too often, there is so much that needs to be done, officers sometimes do not have the luxury of time to offer that immediate and initial support to those involved or victimized."
This is the second time the Fox Cities Victim Crisis Response Team has been asked to help outside the area. Two team members also responded to the Wausau area after the deadly shooting spree there in March.
The team member in Las Vegas will be returning to the Fox Valley on Sunday.
