A 56-year-old Athelstane man died in a rollover crash Thursday morning.
At 2:10 a.m. Thursday, Marinette Dispatch received a call of a one vehicle rollover crash on Highway C near Skary Road in the town or Wausaukee, Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve said in a press release.
Investigation of the scene revealed a four-door sedan was eastbound on Highway C, went off the road to the right and then began rolling over. The vehicle ended up on its roof in the center of the highway.
Michael J. Walk, 56 of Athelstane in Marinette County, was ejected and located near the opposite shoulder of the road.
The crash remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff's Office and County Coroner. The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Wausaukee Fire and Rescue, Sheriff's Auxiliary, Marinette County Highway Department and Marinette County Coroner's Office.
This is Marinette County's first traffic fatality in 2016.
