TOWN OF MANITOWOC RAPIDS, Wis. - The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 75-year-old man found in a partially frozen pond.
Deputies were called to check on James Schneck just before 8:30pm on Thursday after he failed to show up for a meeting. When they arrived at his home in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, they found Schneck in the water on his property. EMS helped remove his body from the pond. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy showed that Schneck died from fresh water drowning and hypothermia. Investigators do not suspect foul play.
Emergency crews from Manitowoc, Valders, and Branch all responded to the scene.
