Manitowoc Police had received several Crime Stoppers tips over the last several days which provided information on possible suspects in the armed robbery of the A Store, which occurred February 11, on Manitowoc’s north side. These tips lead investigators to one specific subject who we believe was responsible for the robbery. This subject has been identified as 29 year old Luis Alonso Aceves of Manitowoc. As this investigation was still developing, Manitowoc Police received information from the Sheboygan Police Department that Aceves, along with others, had been arrested late Tuesday evening as the result of a traffic stop in Sheboygan County. The traffic stop and sub sequential arrest of Aceves was not related to the armed robbery in Manitowoc.
Evidence was recovered from the scene of the robbery on February 11th. This morning at about 0830 hours, the Manitowoc Police Department executed a search warrant at Aceves residence in the 2100 block of La Follette Ave. in Manitowoc. Here investigators found evidence related to the armed robbery. Additional evidence was also recovered from Aceves’s property at the Sheboygan County Jail which linked him to the crime.
Aceves remains in the Sheboygan County Jail where he faces charges from the traffic stop incident in Sheboygan County. Aceves will be transferred to the Manitowoc County Jail in the near future where he will be charged with armed robbery
The Manitowoc Police Department would like to extend our gratitude to those citizens, who called the Crime Stoppers hotline, as well as to the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheboygan County Police Department and also to the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, who assisted Manitowoc Police the night of the incident.
