Manawa students suspended for threatening school

Posted

Some Little Wolf Ir./Sr. High School students have been suspended for the remainder of the school year after threats were made against the school, according to Manawa School District Administrator Melanie J. Oppor.

Late morning on Thursday, Junior/Senior High School Principal Daniel Wolfgram received information that high school students had made threats. Wolfgram started an investigation that included assistance from the Manawa Police Department. Involved students will be suspended for the remaining three days of school.

The district also said it has taken additional precautions during the final days of the school year. Beginning Friday, all doors at both schools are locked all day. A Manawa Police Department Officer will let students in through the front entrance to the high school only, and elementary school students will be let in by the staff front door monitor. Elementary recess will be indoors for the remainder of the school year.

There will also be a Manawa Police Department presence at the Little Wolf High School Graduation Ceremony and at Grade 8 Recognition.

The number of students involved is unknown at this time as the school and police investigations are ongoing, Oppor said.
