Posted

A Merrill man was sentenced to two years probation for stabbing another man in Markesan in September of 2016.

Evan Delonay, 21, pleaded no contest to amended counts of battery and disorderly conduct. He previously faced felony charges of second degree reckless injury and injury by negligent use of a weapon.

Delonay will serve two years probation for the crimes.

Police said he stabbed a 20-year-old man at a home on the corner of West Charles Street and North Bridge Street in Markesan in early September 2016. The fight was allegedly over a girlfriend, officers said.

The victim stumbled a few blocks before he collapsed, police said.  Neighbors then saw that man and called police for help.
