Man involved in 2015 officer involved shooting committed to 80 years in mental facility

Richard Klemz, found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect for a December 2015 officer involved shooting has been committed to 80 years in the custody of the Department of Health and Services.

The December 10th incident involved a Winnebago County Deputy and Oshkosh Police Officer. Both were forced to fire at Klemz after he failed to show his hands and line his vehicle against them. He was hospitalized, but has since recovered.

Klemz was tried on two counts of Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide and will be committed to 40 years for each count.
