A man allegedly shot by his father after an argument in De Pere waived his preliminary hearing, Tuesday.

Matthew LeMay, 31, was charged with strangulation and suffocation, battery, and disorderly conduct for allegedly punching his father Michael and putting him in a choke hold, according to the criminal complaint.

The complaint says Michael LeMay told police Matthew was upset about some of the opinions expressed on Michael's Christian radio show. On Friday, Matthew allegedly went to his father's house and began arguing with him before punching him in the back of the head and putting him in a choke hold.

According to the complaint, Michael then pulled a handgun out his pocket and tried to fire a warning shot, but shot Matthew in the left thigh.

Matthew was treated and later released from St. Vincent's Hospital.

However, in the criminal complaint, Matthew told police that there were no punches for physical violence before the gunshot.

The complaint also says that Matthew's mother Ellen, who is Michael's ex-wife, told police Matthew told her over the phone that same day that "he was going to, or that he wanted to, punch his dad in the face."

Lemay will be back in court on October 24th.
