Parents in Oshkosh are outraged over the alleged sexual assault of a child at the city's popular Pollock swimming pool.
A 48-year-old Green Bay man is in jail tonight related to the incident, which police say happened last Friday afternoon.
But they're also praising people at the pool for stopping the suspect.
Police say they were called to Pollock Community Water Park Friday around 3:45 on reports of an assault. The investigation allegedly uncovered that the suspect inappropriately touched a young girl not known to him.
"I was shocked and disgusted to find out that happened... here, at our local pool," says father Jeffrey Behnke, who lives nearby.
Behnke says he occasionally takes his son swimming, "a couple times already this summer," he adds.
For him, and other parents, the news is tough to hear. Many on Oshkosh Police's Facebook page are expressing outrage tonight, with statements like "kids aren't safe anywhere anymore"
Still, Behnke says he's glad pool patrons stopped the suspect from leaving before police arrived "instead of just turning their backs, and ignoring it," says Behnke, "and letting it happen."
Police have yet to name the suspect, who is facing charges of First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child.
