Sharon Holt, American Red Cross volunteer, says she's ready to help people in North Carolina who could be affected by Florence.
However, she does admit she's nervous because this will be her first time riding out a hurricane.
According to the American Red Cross, Holt is one of at least 18 volunteers from Wisconsin heading southeast to provide food and shelter for people in the storm zone.
Holt says, she's putting her fears aside, as she flies into the path of Florence.
"I like to help people, you know, I have a place to stay, they don't,” said Holt. “I have a home to come to, they may not.”
The Red Cross says the number of local volunteers heading to help will likely grow.
As for Holt, she makes a habit of helping. She says that just this week, she finished working with Wisconsin flood victims.
