Local reaction to Trump's likely nomination

With Donald Trump's clear path to the Republican Party nomination, Republicans throughout Wisconsin are calling for unity, tonight.

For some voters and lawmakers alike, that won't be an easy task.

"The voters have spoken," says Republican Part of Brown County President Marian Krumberger.

No doubt, experts agree that Trump has been a divisive figure throughout his campaign.

But now that there's a clear nominee, Republicans in Wisconsin say it's time to start focusing on what brings them together going forward.

"I originally had endorsed Marco Rubio," admits Republican State Rep. Mike Rohrkaste, of Neenah.

Wisconsin was the last state where Texas Senator Ted Cruz saw victory in the primaries, "so I was hoping he was going to win Indiana," adds Rohrkaste, "but that obviously didn't happen."

Rohrkaste says getting behind Trump will be tougher for him, and other state lawmakers who backed Cruz.

"I do think, though, that there's time between now and then, as well," adds Rep. Rohrkaste. "We have to work with him. We have to hope that he will change some of his rhetoric that myself, and others, have not liked. I hope that that will occur."

In the meantime, Republicans like Marian Krumberger are reminding fellow voters that they can unite--against Hillary Clinton, that is.

"She represents the wrong direction, and [voters are] looking for someone that's an outsider," says Krumberger, "and she's the ultimate insider."

With the state GOP convention in Green Bay next weekend, Krumberger says that message of uniting behind Trump will likely be a major focus.

Today, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker said he endorsed Cruz before the Wisconsin primary.

But now says he will support the Republican nominee.
