GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — With the residential disconnection moratorium expiring in less than a week, Wisconsin Public Service is urging customers who are behind on their energy bills to contact the energy company as soon as possible to avoid disconnection.
The moratorium will expire April 15. According to Wisconsin Public Service, less than 1% of WPS customers are at risk for disconnection.
Customers who are behind on their energy bill should visit wisconsinpublicservice.com [wisconsinpublicservice.com] or call WPS at 800-450-7260. WPS employees can help arrange a payment plan and connect customers to financial assistance options.
Some customers may qualify for energy assistance through the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program [homeenergyplus.wi.gov]. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, eligibility requirements have been adjusted to allow additional customers to receive heating and electric assistance quickly.
Customers who have questions about their bill or think they might have trouble paying can contact WPS at 800-450-7260.
