NEW HOLSTEIN — Police say a vehicle went airborne and crashed into another vehicle Thursday morning, sending a three-year-old boy and 57-year-old woman to the hospital.

Around 8:30 Thursday morning, police say a vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Cleveland woman was heading northbound on STH 57 (Milwaukee Drive) and entering the city from the south end of new Holstein. Police say the vehicle crossed the center line, went into a ditch and hit a cement culvert, causing the vehicle to go airborne and hit another vehicle waiting at a stop sign.

Police say a 57-year-old woman in the vehicle that was hit became trapped after the crash. Emergency crews needed to use the jaws of life to rescue her and take her to the hospital. Police say a three-year-old boy was in the striking vehicle and he was also hospitalized.

Authorities are still investigating the crash. Police say driver fatigue appears to be a factor.
