LITTLE CHUTE (NBC 26) -- As many businesses slow to a halt, the machines at Heartland Label Printers keep on going.

“Our demand for a couple of week’s time frame has almost doubled," director of operations Nate Vosters said.

Vosters said the company and its employees are working hard to keep up with that demand. They make the labels you see at the grocery story or fast food restaurants, and they’ve picked up new products during the pandemic.

“We’re producing the label that goes on the test kits for the coronavirus," Vosters said. "We’re also supporting an east coast customer who shifted their regular production to basically providing emergency meals to New York City medical and emergency response staff.”

While the products might be unique, this success story is not one-of a kind in the industry.

“I really have found most of the companies that manufacture in northeast Wisconsin are alive and well, and several are having the best month of their entire career,” NEW Manufacturing Alliance executive director Ann Franz said.

Franz said many of those companies are looking for help. Our search of the Wisconsin Job Center for 'manufacturing' returned more than 500 jobs.

“We have a lot of companies that are hiring entry level individuals," she said. "You do not need to have a long history in manufacturing. What they’re really looking for is someone who has a good employment record.”

Heartland Label Printers is one company that's hiring.

“Most of our opportunities are on the operations and manufacturing floor, operating the label presses and coating equipment that we have,” Vosters said.

As this pandemic continues, leaders at the company expect those opportunities to remain.

“We’re looking for difference makers,” Vosters said.
