GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — After being stuck in an upright position for about two weeks, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) announced Tuesday the Mason Street Bridge is now back open to traffic.
WisDOT announced traffic resumed on the bridge at around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
According to WisDOT, the east span of the lift bridge became stuck in the upright position while opening for a ship on July 6. Crews repaired a separated pinion bearing support that prevented the closure of the east span. No structural damage occurred.
WisDOT says crews will complete painting and miscellaneous clean up through next week. A single-lane closure may be required for this work. WisDOT asks drivers to be mindful of workers.
