Following tensions in Washington, D.C. after violence last week at the U.S. Capitol, local sheriffs are asking for calm across the state of Wisconsin.
In a statement Thursday, the Badger State Sheriff's Association recognized people’s right to demonstrate and asked for people to use discretion and common sense if they want to protest.
"All of the Sheriffs are strong supporters of the constitution. We understand the right to assemble and exercise all your constitutional rights, and we encourage you to do that and we support that, but we want it done calmly, peacefully, and in a way that doesn't obstruct normal ongoing businesses throughout the state of Wisconsin," said Brown County Sheriff Todd Delain.
