Wisconsin DOJ investigating officer shooting in Kaukauna

The Wisconsin DOJ said it's investigating a deadly police shooting that happened September 3rd in Kaukauna.

In the early morning of September 3rd, the DOJ said Fox Valley Metro Police Department was involved in a car chase that started in Appleton and ended in Kaukauna. According to the DOJ, the suspect's vehicle crashed near the intersection of County Highway OO and State Highway 55.

While trying to arrest the suspect, the DOJ said a Fox Valley Metro Police Officer shot the suspect. The suspect was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The DOJ identified the deceased as 34-year-old Eduard Alexis Lopez-Ucles. The involved officer is Fox Valley Metro Police Officer Sam D. Pynenberg. He has been with the department for one year and has been placed on paid administrative leave, per department policy.

The Wisconsin DOJ said in a news release DCI is leading this investigation and is assisted by Wisconsin State Patrol.
