GREEN BAY, Wis. — If you're planning on running the Cellcom Marathon this weekend for the first time, organizers say to expect an adventure.

Leaders say first-timers tend to be nervous at this point in time, but there's nothing like finishing a marathon or a half-marathon for the first time. They say a common mistake for first timers is starting out too fast so be sure to pace yourselves.

"I try to remind them that really they're prepared. All the hard work is already done,” says Cellcom Marathon First-Timers Director Tom Cotter. “This is just a little longer training run than they did the last couple weeks. My biggest advice I can give a first-timer is try to be focused on finish lines, not finish times. No matter what you do for a first-timer your primary goal should be to finish."

The 5k will take place Saturday. The main event is on Sunday with the marathon, marathon relay, half-marathon, and half-marathon relay.
