ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (NBC26) -- The Cellcom Green Bay Marathon is nearly 100 days away, but there is still plenty of time to get in the training.
The marathon is a tradition for thousands of runners every year. For someone looking to take that first step to the run there are plenty of community events in the area, such as Prevea's Pints & Pointers and the Prevea Training Runs.
Prevea's Pints & Pointers offers is a free educational series with expert speakers offering tips and answering questions about running and preparing for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon. The events take place at Badger State Brewing Company. Participants can R.S.V.P. on Facebook, but it is not required.
Runners can also train on Saturday's as part of the Prevea Training Runs for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon. There is a run every Saturday up until the marathon. The program switches up the distances. Those can be found HERE.
The Cellcom Green Bay Marathon takes place the weekend of May 16th and 17th. Organizers say the event has a huge impact on the community bringing in $1.5 million in donations to local charities. The weekend overall has an economic impact typically around $1 million.
