Volunteers complete environmental projects for Earth Day

Volunteer Fox Cities held many environmental volunteer projects Thursday as part of their Give Back on Earth Day event.

Ninety people from eight area companies took some time to volunteer at nonprofits throughout the Fox Valley. A team from Miller Electric planted seedlings, watered plants and prepared the ground at River View Gardens, which grows food for Feeding America as well as other organizations that help people with hunger.

"We get the chance to really focus on projects and volunteer opportunities to give back," said Brad Creighton, a community engagement leader with Volunteer Fox Cities. "And to give back in a way that takes care of the planet. It's the only one we've got and we've got to take care of it."

Today's projects were an opportunity to donate time to do something for the earth instead of individual people, Creighton said.

"If you don't know what you want to do, or where would be a good place for you to volunteer for, check out our website at volunteerfoxcities.organd we are happy to find a good volunteer match for you," he said.
