HILBERT (NBC 26) -- Officials in Hilbert have canceled trick-or-treating this year.
"Village of Hilbert has decided to cancel Trick or Treating within the village for 2020," Dennis DuPrey, administrator clerk treasurer for the village, wrote in an email to news media Wednesday.
Hours for trick-or-treating were originally set from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. A decision to cancel those hours came during an October 20 board meeting, citing the COVID-19 pandemic and a desire to keep residents safe.
The Village hopes to have trick-or-treating next year.
