A Waukesha woman added an escape charge to her list of accused crimes after she slipped out of her handcuffs and walked out of the Waukesha County Jail last week.

According to a criminal complaint, Amber Gonzales reportedly stole a cell phone from a housekeeper’s cart at the hotel. When she was arrested police found her with the stolen phone and a glass pipe for smoking cocaine.

Once in the jail, surveillance video captured Gonzales wriggling herself out of the handcuffs before escaped the jail cell.

Before she left the jail, Gonzales allegedly took a set of jail keys with her. She was later found at a Waukesha hotel, where she was caught about to engage in prostitution with a man she met at a nearby Wendy’s.

According to the complaint, Gonzales and the man had reached an agreement of $80 for 30 minutes of sexual activity.

Along with escape, Gonzales has been charged with prostitution, misdemeanor theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted she faces a maximum penalty of more than seven years behind bars.
