DE PERE — The Unified School District of De Pere is looking at plans to return to some form of in-person learning starting in mid-January.

At a Board of Education Special Meeting Monday, the board recommended students in grades K-6 fully return to in-person learning starting Jan. 11. Following the recommendation, kids in grades 7-12 would be in a blended educational model beginning Jan. 19.

All teachers would be required to teach in the building. If they have health conditions, the district will work with them on a case by case basis.

The district is seeking to re-open buildings after meeting nine out of 10 points in their "Re-open and Fly Safely as One" plan.

If there is a future school shutdown, the board said it would be on a school-by-school basis. The district would notify parents one to two weeks before any particular school closed.

The school board is set to vote on the plan next Monday. Many of the board members stated they feel the district has done its due diligence and is ready to move forward with in-person learning.
