GREEN LAKE, Wis. — During a severe thunderstorm warning Thursday, the Green Lake County Sheriff's E911 Center received two calls about people in distress on Big Green Lake.

Around 4:15 Thursday, one caller reported a sailboat overturned in Big Green Lake near the south shore.

At the same time, another report came in about a missing young man on a kayak. A patrol boat was launched and Sheriff's staff traveled to the area.

The young man on the kayak was soon found, unhurt.

The sailboat was reported up against the rocks and shore off Oakwood Avenue. Sheriff's staff arrived on scene around 4:45 and found no one inside the boat. The boat was left for recovery later.

The sailboat incident is still under investigation, but police did find that a 76-year-old Illinois man was caught up in the storm when his sailboat overturned. He was rescued by another boater.

No injuries were reported in either incident.
