Two people injured in Green Bay garage fire

GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Two people were injured from a garage fire Thursday evening, according to Green Bay Metro Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to report of smoke and fire in a garage on Green Bay's west side at around 6:17 p.m. Thursday on Nelson Street. The crews quickly extinguished the fire in under 5 minutes.

The fire department says one person who tried to put the fire out was taken to the hospital with burns. Another person was treated on scene and released.

Firefighters say the fire started in the garage and spread into the residence. The duplex sustained fire damage in both garages, residences, and attic area.

Crews spent two hours conducting salvage and overhaul operations. The estimated dollar loss is at $60,000.
