WAUPACA COUNTY (NBC 26) -- Two people are facing charges for a hit-and-run crash that left a woman dead in Waupaca County.
Marcos Tomas, from Clermont, Fla., and Felicia Lubin, from Evans, Colo., are facing charges for the hit-and-run death of Jaqueline Ann Johnson earlier this month.
According to a criminal complaint, the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call on September 15 from Lubin, indicating someone had been hit by a car near the Waupaca Airport on Highway 10.
Lubin claims in the call she believed she saw someone get hit. She said she got out of the vehicle and searched for a few minutes but couldn’t see, it was too dark.
Officers later found Johnson’s body in the east bound lane near the rumble strip and gravel shoulder in the town of Lind. They also found several pieces of a vehicle at the scene.
Investigators later tracked the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, a rental van. The complaint says the parts found at the scene were consistent with missing parts on the van.
The driver, identified as Tomas, told investigators that his co-worker had driven the van and that the damage from the van was from hitting a deer. However, the the complaint says the co-worker in question was in custody at the time of the crash.
As of September 23, the complaint says Marcos Tomas has not returned to work and his whereabouts are unknown. Online jail records show a Felicia Lubin has been arrested in Colorado and is in Weld County Jail.
