NEAR MARIBEL, Wis. — Authorities say heavy rain and alcohol are possible factors that led to a crash which injured three people.
WisDOT says the crash happened Saturday afternoon on Highway R at Old Y Road in Manitowoc County near Maribel.
Authorities say a 2012 Harley Davidson driven by a 58-year-old man began to slow down, when a second motorcycle, a 1995 Harley Davidson driven by a 67-year-old man with a 48-year-old woman passenger, struck the first motorcycle. This caused both drivers to lose control and crash, throwing all three people onto the roadway.
All three people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. A news release from WisDOT says heavy rain and alcohol are possible contributing factors to the crash. None of the motorcyclists were wearing helmets. The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating.
The 58-year-old man is from Luxemburg. The 67-year-old man and 48-year-old woman are from Kewaunee.
