MANITOWOC COUNTY (NBC 26) -- Two crashes resulted in the deaths of three people last week, according to the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office.
The first crash was on the afternoon of Nov. 25, when deputies and EMS personnel responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of County Highways X and A within the town of Schleswig. The Sheriff's Office said a 16-year-old boy from De Pere was driving a 2004 Audi A6 westbound on Highway X. According to the Sheriff's Office, the vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with Highway A and was hit by a southbound 2016 Freightliner tractor trailer unit.
The driver of the Freightliner was unhurt. The 16-year-old received serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Aurora Baycare. There were two passengers in the Audi A6 and both died at the scene, the Sheriff's Office said. They were identified as 21-year-old Patrick Errol Knapp of De Pere and a 14-year-old boy who was also from De Pere.
The second crash occurred on Nov. 26, just after midnight. Deputies and EMS responded to a single vehicle crash on County Highway X at Centerville Road within the town of Centerville. According to the Sheriff's Office, 22-year-old Jordan James Leslie of Sheboygan was operating a 2016 Toyota Corolla eastbound on Highway X. The vehicle crossed the centerline and entered the north ditch. It proceeded over Centerville Road and continued traveling eastbound in the north ditch of Highway X. The vehicle collided with several smaller trees prior to having a final resting position against a larger tree.
The Sheriff's Office said Leslie was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed appears to be a contributing factor in his crash, the Sheriff's Office said.
