GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Two local fire departments will become one.
The Bellevue Fire Department and Green Bay Metro Fire Department announced a merger Friday. Leaders say it will provide better services for both areas.
"If there is a working structure fire here, our response to that is 4 fire engines, a ladder truck, 2 ambulances and a battalion chief. 24 personnel will be here in under 9 minutes every single time. That is not the case today,” explained GBMFD Fire Chief David Litton.
The merger will officially take place one second past midnight on January 1.
