Tri-County Recycling partners honored with awards

GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — It was announced today in a press release that Brown County Resource Recovery Business Development Manager, Mark Walter, has been chosen as the recipient of the Christy Dixon Recycler of the Year award from the Associated Recyclers of Wisconsin (AROW). AROW is a non-profit association that provides statewide proactive leadership on waste reduction and recycling.

The Christy Dixon Recycler of the Year award is given to an individual whose career demonstrates the highest professional standards in the recycling field. Walter is dedicated to working with municipalities and private companies to ensure there are sustainable recycling options for all. He was integral in developing Brown County Resource Recovery’s first strategic Solid Waste Plan.

“It was an honor to receive this recognition,” said Walter. To receive this award means that we are making a difference for our communities.” Throughout Walter’s career, he has been a part of implementing and managing programs such as curbside recycling, household hazardous waste and Port of Green Bay operations.

AROW also presented awards to Outagamie County Recycling and Solid Waste. Alex Nett, Outagamie Recycling and Resource Recovery Administrator, and Marissa Michalkiewicz, Outagamie Recycling & Solid Waste Program Coordinator, received the Outstanding Achievement in Education award. This dynamic duo has excelled in environmental education related to solid waste and recycling. They also assist in outreach and education for the Tri-County Recycling Program and Material Recovery Facility.
