Having a home gym sounds very attractive during this time. Folks are looking for ways to stay in shape without coming into contact with others.

Gym equipment can be costly.

When looking at an elliptical or treadmills, the Better Business Bureau wants to remind you of some important tips.

"Set a budget. Get something that works for you because if you don't like it you won't stick to your exercise routine and you won't stay motivated," said Susan Bach, the Regional Director for the Better Business Bureau Serving Wisconsin.

Before hitting the 'buy now' button, measure your space. Make sure the equipment will fit in the area designated for your home gym.

It can be daunting trying to choose the right machine for you. There are so many options. How do you decide?

"Beware of quick fit solutions," said Bach. "We've all seen products that imply you can get toned with very little effort. Those are claims you should be very wary of."

It's great if you can try and test out equipment before you buy it.

Once you decide what you want, it's time to choose where you're going to purchase it from.

"Make sure you're doing a lot of comparison pricing to make sure you are getting the best deal," said Bach. "Sometimes the best deal will come from the manufacturer and not a gym equipment supplier."

Inspect the equipment when it is delivered to make sure all the pieces are there and nothing is broken.

You should always ask about return, refund and warranty policies just in case something doesn't work out.
