GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC 26) -- Wisconsin Public Service confirmed scattered power outages on Thursday due to weather.

Power outages can cause inconveniences, regardless of the situation. On Thursday, there was a power outage on one person's end during the Brown County media briefing call regarding COVID-19 response.

This is also a time many are working from home, relying on their own personal power and internet connection to get the job done.

Marc Lemke, the chief technology officer with at Camera Corner Connecting Point in Green Bay, said storms can make a big impact with people working from home. He said if the power does go out, a generator can help . He also said people can get a UPS (uninterrupted power supply). Lemke said it's essentially a battery that always stays charged with an outlet to plug devices into. Lemke said a cell phone is also an option when it comes to connecting to the internet.

"You can turn your cell phone into a hot-spot and utilize that to access the internet," added Lemke.

People could also invest in a MiFi device or jetpack device from their cellular company which allows you to connect a laptop to the internet. Lemke said some companies have these for things like business travel or to rent.

He said it's also important to make sure all your devices are charged so if there is a power outage, you're ready to go until the power comes back on.
