MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Tickets to Gov.-elect Tony Evers' inauguration gala cost $35 and are now on sale.
The Democratic Evers announced more details about the Jan. 7 event on Tuesday. He and Lt. Gov.-elect Mandela Barnes will be sworn into office earlier that day, with the black-tie optional party that night at the Monona Terrace convention center in Madison, just a couple blocks away from the Capitol.
The nonprofit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee, an affiliate of the youth mentoring organization, is partnering with Evers to host the event. The group will receive charitable donations made as part of the inauguration event.
Evers defeated Republican Gov. Scott Walker in November. Co-chairs of Evers' inauguration committee include Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele and former U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl.
