ASHWAUBENON (NBC 26) -- Visibility continues to be an issue on the roads as a thick fog rolled in for Christmas Day.

Locals say they haven't seen fog like this since spring.

“It’s bad. You can't see maybe a half a mile in front of you. Luckily, I’m not driving,” said holiday traveler Alycia Hotchkiss. “Turn on your headlights. I’ve seen a lot of people coming down here that did not have their lights on. You couldn't see them.”

Several flights were also canceled Christmas morning from Chicago into Austin Straubel because of the weather. As the fog continues, a reminder: Thursday is also going to be the busiest times for traveling!

AAA is predicting Thursday afternoon to be the worst time for it. Local police are asking drivers to keep it safe when heading home.
