The Marq Banquet & Catering in De Pere announced Tuesday it has closed permanently. The venue said it is closing due to uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.
The venue closed temporarily in March when Wisconsin’s Safer-at-Home order became effective. General Manager Terry Thetford had hoped the venue would eventually reopen.
“This pandemic has hit many industries hard, especially in the events and catering sector,” Thetford said in a news release from the venue. “We explored many potential options for re-opening and ultimately came to this difficult decision. We are fiscally unable to continue operations while ensuring the safety of our clients and team members.”
The venue said clients who had events scheduled at The Marq, as well as vendors, have been notified. Thetford added that all parties who had upcoming events scheduled at The Marq will receive a refund for their full deposits.
