GREEN BAY, Wis. — The healing power of horses was showcased in an open house Monday in De Pere. Exceptional Equestrians opened up their facilities to show the community how the animals can help children, teens or adults with emotional and physical traumas or disabilities.

Exceptional Equestrians is one of the non-profits participating in the 2019 Give Big Green Bay event. Give Big Green Bay starts February 20th at noon and runs for 24 hours, until noon on February 21st.

Funds raised for Exceptional Equestrians will go to therapeutic riding and equine-assisted learning programs that serve over 250 families annually, bridging the gap between program revenue and the actual cost of services.

No client is turned away because they can't pay. Organizers hope Monday's open house helped to share their mission and will encourage people to give during Give Big Green Bay or even become a volunteer.

Exceptional Equestrians was founded in 1999. They help people age 2 and up with a wide spectrum of conditions and disorders such as cerebral palsy, down syndrome, brain injury, and sensory dysfunction.
